Solid Wood Storage Cabinets
Our storage cabinets are made from solid reclaimed elm from northern China. The wood keeps its open grain, knots and weathered surface, so every cabinet carries its own tone and texture. There's no veneer, just elm all the way through.
For smaller walls and entryways, the two-door and two-drawer cabinets run 47 to 49 inches wide and about 17 to 18 inches deep. Wider pieces with drawers and doors run 55 to 63 inches. The Four Door Elm Cabinet stretches to 90.5 inches for a long dining room wall. The Ara Elm Low Cabinet sits just 20 inches high, low enough to fit under a window or a TV. For bedrooms and hallways, our elm armoires stand 75 to 82.5 inches tall.
Most pieces come in natural elm, and several are also made in black. For long, low pieces made for the dining room, see Elm Sideboards, Buffets & Credenzas. For hallway pieces, see Entryway Furniture.
FAQ
What's the difference between a storage cabinet, a sideboard and an armoire?
A sideboard is long and low, made to stand along a dining room wall at about counter height. A storage cabinet is the broader term for any closed piece with doors or drawers, and it can live in an entryway, living room, bedroom or office. An armoire is the tall version, closer to a freestanding closet. Our collection covers all three heights, from the 20-inch Ara Elm Low Cabinet to armoires over 80 inches tall.
Are these cabinets solid wood?
Yes. Every cabinet here is solid elm, with no veneer or particleboard. Many lower-priced cabinets are made from engineered wood with a thin printed or wood layer on top, which can chip and can't be sanded back. Solid elm can be refinished, holds screws and hinges for decades, and the grain you see on the surface runs all the way through.
What size storage cabinet do I need?
Measure the wall first, then leave a few inches of open space on each side so the piece doesn't look squeezed in. For an entryway or a small wall, our 47 to 49 inch cabinets are the easiest fit. For a dining or living room wall, look at the 55 to 63 inch pieces or the 90.5 inch Four Door Elm Cabinet. Leave enough room in front for the doors to swing fully open, and check that the 17 to 19 inch depth clears any walkway.
How long does delivery take?
Pieces marked Ready to Ship are in our warehouse and ready to send out. Made-to-order pieces take about 10 to 12 weeks to produce before they ship. Each product page shows which applies.
How do I care for a solid elm cabinet?
Dust with a soft, dry cloth and wipe up spills right away. Keep the cabinet out of strong direct sun and away from heating vents. Solid wood responds to the seasons, so doors and drawers can fit a little tighter in humid months and loosen again when the air is drier. That's normal for real wood. A coat of furniture wax once or twice a year keeps the surface from drying out.
