Wabi Sabi Bedroom Furniture
A wabi sabi bedroom feels quiet and lived in. The furniture is simple, the wood keeps its knots and grain, and nothing is polished to look new.
Our bedroom pieces are made from solid and reclaimed elm from northern China. The nightstands are about 20 inches wide and 21.5 to 27.5 inches tall, from a single drawer over an open shelf to three stacked drawers. The armoires stand 75 to 82.5 inches tall in natural or black elm, and the Belia dressers add four or six drawers for folded clothes. At the end of the bed, the Skinny Elm Wood Bench takes up only 5 to 6 inches of floor.

FAQ
What makes a bedroom wabi sabi?
Natural materials, simple shapes and a calm, uncluttered room. Wood keeps its grain, knots and small marks instead of a glossy finish. Pair it with linen bedding, a wool or jute rug and soft, warm light, and keep surfaces mostly clear so a few objects stand out.
What size nightstand do I need?
Look for a top that sits within a few inches of the top of your mattress, so a lamp or glass is easy to reach. Our nightstands run 21.5 to 27.5 inches tall, so a low platform bed suits the shorter ones and a taller bed suits the Kai at 27.5 inches. At about 20 inches wide, they fit beside a queen or king without crowding the walkway.
Should I choose an armoire or a dresser?
An armoire is tall and gives you closed storage with shelves, and some add drawers below. The Colin Elm Armoire has two interior shelves and two lower drawers. A dresser is low and wide, with drawers for folded clothes and a top for a lamp, a mirror or a tray. In a room without much closet space, an armoire takes up less floor for the storage it holds.
Can I mix natural and black elm in a bedroom?
Yes. A black armoire or nightstand gives a light room some weight, and natural elm keeps it warm. Repeat each finish at least twice, for example natural nightstands with a natural bench and a black armoire with a black frame or lamp, so the mix looks planned.
How do I care for elm bedroom furniture?
Dust with a soft, dry cloth and use a coaster under water glasses on the nightstand. Keep pieces away from heating vents and strong direct sun. Solid wood moves a little with humidity, so a drawer can feel tight in humid months. A little paste wax on the runners helps it slide.
