Elm Coffee Tables
Every coffee table here is solid reclaimed elm, sometimes called elmwood, the same timber behind our sideboards and cabinets. Elm has a wide, wavy grain with knots and color shifts from honey to soft gray, so no two tops look the same. For smaller rooms and sectionals, choose a round table like the Burton at 31.5 inches across or the Harlow in 41 or 49 inches. For a full-length sofa, go long and low with the 71-inch Elm Senufo, or the slim Kaira, which is just 24 inches deep. For more woods and styles, see our solid wood coffee tables, reclaimed wood coffee tables and Japandi coffee tables.
FAQ
Is elm a good wood for a coffee table?
Yes. Elm is a dense, heavy hardwood that holds up well to daily use. Reclaimed elm is old, well-seasoned timber, so it's stable and strong, and the knots and small checks are part of its character.
Is elm the same as elmwood?
Yes. "Elmwood" is just another way of saying elm wood, and both mean the same timber.
What size coffee table do I need?
A common guide is about two-thirds the length of your sofa, with 14 to 18 inches between the table and the seat so it's easy to reach and walk past.
Round or rectangular?
Round tables work well with sectionals, in smaller rooms and where people walk around the table. Rectangular tables suit long sofas and give more surface for trays and books.
How do I care for an elm coffee table?
Dust it with a soft, dry cloth, wipe spills right away, use coasters and trivets, and keep it out of long periods of direct sun.
